Staying Together - The Basics

The Plan - Each of our sanctioned rides has a predetermined "Leader".  The leader's job is make sure that the group is aware of the basic ride route and to help set a safe pace during the run.  The leader not only sets a safe pace but he/she also acts as "eyes" of the group.  The leader looks ahead for road changes and signals early so "the word gets back to the pack in plenty of time".

Beginners are up front - If you are an inexperienced group rider we try to set you up front, behind the leader, so that the pack can watch and support you.  It also allows the leader to make adjustments as we ride.

Following those behind - Follow those behind?  How do we do that?  Well, it's simple.  It's not only important to watch those members riding ahead of us, it's also important to watch our fellow members that are behind us.  If a rider falls behind, it's important for the leaders to slow down a little so that the group stays tight and together.
