March 2011 Meeting Summary


Attendance:  17 members, 1 STAR Kid and 2 guests


Minutes for February 2011 accepted as read


President/VP Report:  President's meeting in NH on 2/26/11.  Samle pamphlets brought to review.  Talked about International's website "redesign".  Spoke about the Tame Texas Ride (for the STAR Family Foundation) from Shreveport, LA to Tuscon, AZ on 4/9/11


Treasurer's report accepted as read, with a reminder that annual dues must be paid before the 1st sanctioned ride.


LobSTAR Bake 2011: The lobster bake itself is set, but Joyce still needs to get a price.


LOS Rep:  not present


STAR Vet Rep:  4/23/11 - Bike night at LA Harley from 5 to 10 p.m., to benefit the ME Homeless Vets Fund.  4/30/11 - Legion Riders Wounded Soldiers Program at The Cabin (rain date: 5/1/11), registration starts at 10 a.m. at Smith-Tobery American Legion.


STAR Kids/Teens:  position is currently vacant.


STAR Membership:  possibility of writing up a generic letter to prospective members, to invite them to come to a meeting.


Road Captain:  Putting together the 2011 ride calendar.


STATE Rally Committee:  The event is posted on our Facebook page.

New business:  Collecting 2011 ride waivers

Upcoming events:  6/25/11: Alzheimer's ride.

6/10/11 - 6/12/11: Trip to Bar Habor.  Still time to reserve a room.

September:  Plan the Dempsey Center bike ride during this month, but not on the same day as the bicycle event.  More to come at a later date.

5/1/11: Bike blessing in West Newbury, MA at the All Saint's Episcopal Church (893 Main Sreet), from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Blessing at 11 a.m. with BBQ to follow.  Refreshments and Raffles ongoing.  Rain or shine event.

7/2/11: Ironazz Ride from Topsham to Fort Kent, to raise money for the STAR Family Foundation.  This trip will be a one day ride, approximately 640 miles round trip.  There will be short stops for fuel…not for the faint of heart!  More details on this at a later date.
